On May 3, 2026, Metropolitan Sunday allows residents of the Florence Metropolitan Area free access to a number of museums and cultural sites. The program includes family activities, thematic routes, guided tours and openings of areas that are usually closed to the public.
The Amir project also offers multicultural readings and heritage routes at venues such as Museo Novecento and Palazzo Vecchio. Temporary exhibitions on display include "Baselitz Avanti!" at Museo Novecento and "Firenze Déco" at Palazzo Medici Riccardi.
Who is eligible: free admission is reserved for residents of the Florence Metropolitan Area; bring an identity document proving residency.
Timings and bookings: opening hours and access rules vary by venue. Check each museum's official website or communication channels in advance. Family activities and workshops may require prior booking or have limited places.
This is a good opportunity to explore usually inaccessible spaces and join tailored programs suitable for different audiences — all without an entrance fee.
