Firenze Archeofilm comes back from 11 to 15 March 2026 for its eighth edition: an international festival focused on films about archaeology, art, the environment and ethnography. Held at Cinema La Compagnia, the line‑up includes about 80 titles, more than half world or national premieres, with morning and afternoon screenings and free entry.
The selection emphasizes productions that document excavations, restoration projects, site histories and the work of researchers. Key themes include archaeological investigations in Tuscany, documentaries on monuments and collections, and films addressing threatened cultural heritage.
Films are judged by multiple panels: a public audience jury, an academic jury from the University of Florence, a student jury composed of university students and an award from the Museum and Florentine Institute of Prehistory. Main awards include the Firenze Archeofilm Prize (public choice), the University of Florence Prize, the Student UniFi Prize for best short film and the Museum and Institute of Florentine Prehistory Prize.
For the full schedule, screening times and guest list consult the festival programme or contact Cinema La Compagnia. Firenze Archeofilm is a practical opportunity to follow recent archaeological discoveries and to see how film helps communicate and protect cultural heritage.
