Festival of Sporting Myths: Maradona honoured in the Sannio region

The Festival of Sporting Myths debuts in San Bartolomeo in Galdo on 21 and 22 May, offering a programme of talks, workshops and exhibitions that explore sporting memory and its future meanings. Promoted by publisher Lab DFG and supported by the Ministry for Sport and Youth, the festival aims to engage schools and local communities.

• Dates and venues: 21–22 May in San Bartolomeo in Galdo (Benevento); 27 May in Ripa Teatina; July at the Circeo National Park; autumn in Policoro (Matera).
• Guests: journalist Daniel Martínez (ESPN), writers Dario Ricci and Niccolò Mello, Paralympic swimmer Vincenzo Boni; later sessions include figures such as Valentina Vezzali and Flavio D’Ambrosi.
• Topics: sporting myth-making, social inclusion, the relationship between sport and the Constitution, education in Olympic and Paralympic values.
• Purpose: to promote sporting narratives and shared values, with a focus on younger generations.

The opening days concentrate on the myth of Diego Armando Maradona, while later events broaden the discussion to sport’s civic role, rights and community engagement.
