The Easter long weekend brought a large number of visitors to Ferrara: museums, exhibitions and historic sites experienced strong turnout from both domestic and international tourists. The exhibition at Palazzo dei Diamanti recorded almost 5,000 visitors over the weekend, reaching around 16,000 attendees since its opening.
A combination of temporary and permanent exhibitions, together with landmark sites, drew crowds throughout the city. Key cultural hubs included the Castello Estense, Palazzo Schifanoia, Spazio Antonioni and the monumental Certosa, recently enhanced by restorations and the reinstallation of important works.
Local authorities and cultural operators note a positive economic ripple effect: cafés, restaurants and local businesses benefited from the visitor increase. After the slowdown linked to the pandemic, attendance and national and international visibility are steadily growing.
Palazzo dei Diamanti is already preparing a new exhibition in collaboration with the Boijmans Van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam, set to feature masterpieces by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky. Additional reopenings and cultural projects are scheduled for 2026–2027, including Palazzo Prosperi Sacrati, Palazzo Massari and the Museum of the Risorgimento and the Resistance.
Ferrara is strengthening its position as a cultural destination: the rise in museum attendance confirms that quality exhibitions, conservation efforts and strategic programming continue to drive cultural tourism in the area.
