Federalberghi: continuity and priorities for tourism

The 76th Federalberghi national assembly took place in Rome, attended by more than 300 entrepreneurs from across Italy. The meeting reviewed tourism's role in the national economy and set out key priorities for the sector.

Main issues highlighted:

  • Regulation of short-term rentals to balance flexibility with oversight;
  • Stronger measures to combat illegal accommodation in the hospitality sector;
  • Initiatives and investments to promote historic villages and protect town centers;
  • Support for training, innovation and sustainability to preserve international competitiveness.

The assembly reiterated tourism's economic importance: the sector accounts for over 13% of Italy's GDP, with a significant impact on jobs and local businesses. The premier's participation was noted as an indication of the sector's strategic value, emphasizing tourism's cultural and identity-related role for the country's image.

Bernabò Bocca was re-elected president unanimously, a decision interpreted by members as a vote for continuity in policy. Proposals include a mix of inspections, penalties and incentives for compliant operators, alongside information campaigns for citizens and local administrations.

The assembly's conclusion points to a path aimed at making Italy's tourism offer more coherent, sustainable and competitive over the long term, with particular attention to hospitality quality and the safeguarding of cultural and territorial heritage.
