Bradano bids for Italian Book Capital 2027

On April 16, at the Castle of Palazzo San Gervasio, "Terre Libere. Anthology of a people who (re)exist through reading" was officially presented — the dossier by the group Le Trame del Bradano proposing the Bradano area as Italian Book Capital 2027.

• The project promotes reading as a social infrastructure to strengthen territorial cohesion in the Bradano area.
• The presentation gathered mayors, academics and institutional representatives from 16 municipalities.
• The dossier is coordinated by Nicola Palumbo; the visual identity was created by Donato Faruolo.
• Notable contributions came from Prof. Michele Chisena, Rita Orlando (Fondazione Matera Basilicata 2019) and Raffaele Vitulli.
• The regional administration expressed appreciation for the project's vision and quality.

Organizers say the candidacy aims to highlight local literary and historical heritage while making reading a driver for cultural and economic development in inland Basilicata. Although the Bradano will compete with larger urban areas for 2027, the dossier presentation is already viewed as an important achievement for the territory.
