Palazzo Pretorio Museum has introduced Dorando, a graphic character designed to engage young visitors with the city's art and history. The mascot aims to spark curiosity and emotional responses during visits, using clear visuals and simple language to support learning.
Public launch
The museum will hold a public presentation open to children and their caregivers: free entry and a Dorando gadget for attendees. The event showcases the new educational route and family-focused programs.
Design and name
Dorando's look, developed together with a cultural cooperative, draws on the Prato lily, a motif from the city's coat of arms visible in historic sites across Prato. The mascot's name was chosen with direct involvement of children who take part in the museum's workshops: from four shortlisted names, the community selected Dorando via a social media poll.
What the Dorando trail includes
Dorando will feature across future museum projects and communications, aiming to make visits more engaging and to encourage informed appreciation of the city's cultural heritage. Families, schools and community groups are invited to explore the new route and activities dedicated to young audiences.
