Diana Markosian in Turin: "Replaced" at Gallerie d'Italia

From 10 April to 6 September 2026, Gallerie d'Italia in Turin hosts Replaced, a new project by Diana Markosian presented within Exposed – Torino Photo Festival. Curated by Brandei Estes and produced by Intesa Sanpaolo, the exhibition pairs a photographic series with a film specifically adapted for the museum's immersive screening room.

Markosian's work investigates the aftermath of intimate relationships and how memories, places and gestures are reworked or shared with others. By staging reenactments — including scenes performed by actors — the artist navigates the unstable terrain of memory, blurring documentary practice with staged narrative to probe emotional dislocation and the persistence of attachment.

  • Exhibition format: photographs and an immersive film.
  • Main themes: memory, loss, identity, the construction of recollection.
  • Publication: an artist book co-published by Allemandi and Atelier EXB.
  • Public program: free events and talks as part of the #INSIDE series.

The opening includes a public conversation on 10 April at 6:30 PM, where the artist will speak with curator Brandei Estes, followed by a book signing of the exhibition catalogue.

Diana Markosian (b. 1989, Moscow) works across photography, film and installation, addressing displacement, memory and the creation of personal and collective narratives. Replaced is presented as a major preview within the festival program and underscores Gallerie d'Italia's commitment to contemporary photographic projects with international resonance.

Practical tip: check the museum's website for opening times and ticketing info before your visit; many public program events are free but may require prior registration.
