An innovative cultural route connects seven UNESCO-listed Longobard locations across Italy, using contemporary formats to bring history closer to new audiences. Destination Longobards turns each stop into a narrative hub with short videos, stories and photo content designed for online engagement.
The initiative is part of a broader programme funded by the Ministry of Culture (EF2023) under Law 77 for UNESCO sites. Its aim is to network these territories and present the serial site "The Longobards in Italy. Places of Power (568–774 A.D.)" as a single, shareable cultural experience.
Five content creators with expertise in art, history and public outreach were selected for their thematic relevance and ability to engage active communities: Evelina Silvestroni, Flavio Burni (Lo Storico), Daniela Tedone (La Storia per Ted), Andrea Passador (Prolisso) and Erika Micheli (CadavErika Storica). Each creator will turn assigned locations into a contemporary storytelling station.
Spanning north to south, the seven sites offer different windows on Longobard history. The multimedia approach seeks to make historical knowledge approachable without oversimplifying it, reaching new generations and digitally active audiences.
