The exhibition “E non dono celeste” by Cristina Lavosi, on view at Almanac in Turin, favors relational processes and participatory practices over finished artworks. The presentation operates as a multi-layered platform where videos, educational sessions and activist-oriented activities coexist: screenings are paired with workshops, reading groups and self-directed learning paths.
Two recent videos made with active participant involvement are central to the project. The first, “Cinque lire di stelle” (2026), produced with the collective ULIT – Un Limone in Tasca, documents exercises and discussions around transformative justice, an approach that seeks to repair relationships and address the roots of harm rather than relying on punitive systems. The work emphasizes a collective voice: shared reading and conversation become tools for group formation and mutual learning.
The second video, “Cos’altro, cos’altro c’è nella città gioiosa?” (2026), draws on Ursula K. Le Guin’s parable and engages a group of young people in reflecting on a moral paradox: can a community exist without any sacrificial victim? Shot on Super 8 by the participants, the piece interweaves performative fragments and off-screen narration to provoke reflection rather than closure.
The exhibition layout is intentionally flexible: printed fabric panels with collective drawings define the space while modular seating designed by Nicholas Sabena and Riccardo Cenedella encourages informal gatherings. Screen-printed posters and distributed materials extend the participatory dimension and invite public contribution.
Rather than offering answers, the show initiates conversations. It is a setting where artistic practice merges with shared learning and community building. Visitors are invited to take part, to voice positions and to engage with practices of collective responsibility.
The exhibition is conceived as a living laboratory where aesthetics and relational practices inform one another, aimed at audiences interested in alternative forms of coexistence and collective accountability.
