On 18 April 2026 a ceremony in Cosenza marked the inauguration of the amphitheatre dedicated to Vincenzo Ziccarelli and the reopening of the Cinema Italia-Tieri, closed and neglected for nearly ten years.
The event was attended by mayor Franz Caruso, Ziccarelli's family, prefect Rosa Maria Padovano and Archbishop Giovanni Checchinato. The amphitheatre plaque was unveiled and the cinema, after a blessing, was handed over to new management led by Pino Citrigno.
Organisers described the interventions as part of the urban and cultural regeneration of Piazza Amendola, an area that already hosts music and educational institutions. The cinema's new programme aims to combine mainstream releases with cross-disciplinary cultural events.
The day ended with a ceremonial cake-cutting and the screening of the film "Benvenuti in campagna", underlining the intent to make culture a regular, visible presence in the city.
