The project “La Marsica nel sistema culturale di L’Aquila 2026” was presented in Avezzano. Funded by the Fondazione Carispaq, it aims to include the Marsica area in activities linked to L'Aquila as Italy's Capital of Culture 2026.
The initiative promotes slow, sustainable tourism and seeks to enhance the area's cultural, environmental and historical assets. It aims to strengthen the territory's profile through cooperation between heritage bodies, local authorities and community organisations.
The programme includes free guided visits focused on three main sites:
The project uses the former bed of Lake Fucino as a narrative thread, linking ancient Italic and Roman engineering to later reclamation efforts and the contemporary agricultural economy. Partners include the regional Soprintendenza, the municipalities of Avezzano and Massa d’Albe, the Cooperativa Ambecò and the Antiquae association.
The presentation took place on 2026-04-18 in Avezzano with representatives of the Fondazione Carispaq and local partners.
