Certamen Brundisinum 2026: De Sanctis‑Galilei High School on the Podium

The fifth edition of the Certamen Brundisinum took place in Brindisi from April 21 to 23, 2026. Organized by Liceo Classico "B. Marzolla" on the occasion of its 160th anniversary, the competition attracted about 50 students from classical high schools across Italy.

• Outcome: Valeria Gallo achieved second place overall

Headteacher of Liceo De Sanctis‑Galilei, Prof.ssa Maria Maddalena Di Maglie, highlighted that the result rewards students' commitment and the school's classical education program, noting that classical languages foster discipline and critical thinking. Teachers Valentino Desantis and Annarita De Carlo also expressed their satisfaction.

The Certamen, featuring Latin translation tests and historical‑literary questions, aims to valorize the classical heritage of the ager Brundisinus and to promote interest in humanistic studies in the region.
