Castelvecchio Museum marks the 100th anniversary of its inauguration with a temporary installation tracing the development of museography from 1926 to Carlo Scarpa's interventions. The exhibition combines panels, period photographs, film footage and audio guides to highlight the relationship between artworks, architecture and display.
The thematic route "From the 1926 layout to the Cangrande according to Carlo Scarpa" features, for a period of one year, two noteworthy late‑15th‑century Venetian wooden sculptures: the relief of San Pietro martire and the sculpture known as Virgil / St John the Evangelist.
Guided tours require advance booking and must be confirmed by the day before the appointment. To reserve or request information contact the Educational Office of the Civic Museums of Verona:
Up‑to‑date information on opening times and tickets is available on the official websites: museodicastelvecchio.comune.verona.it and museiverona.com.
The centenary is an opportunity to reconstruct the transformation of the Scaliger residence into a civic museum, to study the evolution of exhibition design and to appreciate the dialogue between artworks and architectural space. The itinerary suits both art history students and general audiences interested in collections and museum practice.
