Rudiae Archaeological Park: special visits on 25, 26 and 30 April 2026

The Rudiae Archaeological Park near Lecce opens for three spring events aimed at visitors, schools and families. Activities combine multimedia guided tours, historical reenactments and educational workshops for a practical and immersive experience of the Messapian and Roman remains.

Event programme

• Saturday 25 April, 16:30 – Guided tour with multimedia support: tablets with virtual tours, photo panels, virtual reconstructions and illustrations. During the visit the Legio VIII Avgvsta Salento will perform a simulated arena combat to recreate ancient Roman spectacles.
• Sunday 26 April, 17:30 – Guided tour with interpretation in LIS (Italian Sign Language) to support participation by deaf visitors or those with hearing difficulties.
• Thursday 30 April, 10:00 – Workshop "L’Acchiatura: team-game", an educational activity for school groups and families organized by 34° Fuso, featuring role-play and hands-on tasks related to finds and excavation techniques.

What to see in Rudiae

The site preserves layers from the Messapian settlement (7th century BC) to Roman-era modifications (3rd century BC and imperial period). The route lets visitors examine artifacts, stratigraphic sections and the amphitheatre datable to the Trajanic age, illustrating ancient urban changes, funerary practices and public entertainment spaces.
