The MART in Rovereto presents a solo exhibition dedicated to Giacomo Balla that, for the first time in Italy, gathers the complete collection from the Fondazione Biagiotti Cigna and the holdings of Laura and Lavinia Biagiotti. The display pairs paintings with furniture, clothing and everyday objects to reconstruct the Futurist master's vision of "total art."
More than 200 works illustrate how distinctive Futurist motifs (wedges, speed vortices, arabesques) migrated onto furniture, utensils and garments. It is an exceptional chance to investigate the intersection of art, fashion and design in the early 20th century. The dialogue with MART's permanent collection, which includes important Futurist pieces and works by Fortunato Depero, enhances the visit.
The exhibition is curated by Beatrice Avanzi and Fabio Benzi and showcases the collection promoted by the Fondazione Biagiotti Cigna together with the holdings of Laura and Lavinia Biagiotti. The route highlights how Balla applied painting solutions to everyday objects, helping to modernize common items through a new aesthetic language.
