Casale Città Aperta – weekend openings and visits (11–12 April 2026)
On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April 2026, Casale Monferrato presents Casale Città Aperta, offering special access to major monuments and museums, temporary exhibitions and guided routes throughout the city.
Below is the schedule of locations open to the public during the weekend.
- Castello del Monferrato: access to battlements, towers and indoor exhibitions; Saturday and Sunday 10:00–13:00 and 15:00–19:00.
- Church of Santa Caterina: open Saturday and Sunday 10:00–18:30 (nave) and 14:30–18:30 (choir).
- Municipal Theatre: Saturday 15:30–18:30; Sunday 10:00–12:30 and 15:30–18:30.
- Civic Tower: Saturday 15:30–18:30; Sunday 10:00–12:30 and 15:30–18:30.
- Cathedral of Sant’Evasio: Saturday and Sunday 15:00–17:30.
- Church of San Domenico: Saturday and Sunday 15:00–17:00.
- Church of San Michele: closed on Saturday; Sunday 10:00–12:30 and 15:30–18:30.
- Palazzo Gozani di San Giorgio (Town Hall): noble floor with council hall, gallery and frescoed rooms; Sunday 10:00–12:30 and 15:30–18:30.
- Church of San Paolo (opposite the Town Hall): Sunday 10:15–12:30 and 15:30–18:30, featuring works by Moncalvo and a notable baroque chapel.
- Military-historical routes: via Martiri di Nassiriya 8, Sunday 10:00–12:30 with document displays; via De Cristoforis 16, Saturday 9:00–11:30 and Sunday 9:30–11:30 (advance notice requested at 3394159256).
Free guided walk: Sunday at 15:00, meeting point at the kiosk in Piazza Castello (in front of the Municipal Theatre). The roughly two-hour route is led by volunteers from Associazione Orizzonte Casale.
Museums and exhibitions open:
- Civic Museum and Leonardo Bistolfi Gipsoteca (former Convent of Santa Croce): free admission on Saturday and Sunday, 10:30–13:00 and 15:00–18:30. The Gipsoteca illustrates Bistolfi's complete creative path; the underground hall houses the Carlo Vidua travel collection.
- The "Qui si fa l'Italia. The figure of the hero from Bistolfi to Baroni" exhibition in the Salone Vitoli is open until 28 June 2026. On Saturday 11 April at 16:00 a guided tour by museum staff is scheduled (€4 plus admission).
- Synagogue and Jewish Museums: open Sunday 10:00–12:00 and 15:00–17:30 with paid entry; the complex, built in 1595, displays fine baroque-piedmontese decoration and liturgical objects.
- Cathedral Museum and attics: Saturday 15:00–18:00; Sunday 15:00–17:30. Attic access at fixed ascent times: 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00 (reservation recommended at 3929388505 or via [email protected]).
