The second edition of the Rovigo National Art Biennale, titled “Tra volume e visione”, curated by artist Giancarlo Gulmini and organised by the Circolo di Rovigo with support from the Veneto Region and the Municipality of Rovigo, has opened. The exhibition presents works by more than 87 artists from 13 Italian regions and 33 provinces, plus two international guests from India and Poland.
The ribbon-cutting was performed by Rovigo’s mayor, Valeria Cittadin, together with curator Giancarlo Gulmini and Circolo president Paolo Avezzù. During the opening, the mayor executed a performative gesture on two canvases — one red and one blue — echoing the style of Lucio Fontana and signing each canvas on the back.
Official greetings took place in the Sala Pescheria Nuova, where Gulmini, the mayor and Avezzù spoke, introduced by Lara Mantovani, in front of a large audience.
This exhibition is a timely opportunity to see contemporary painting and site-specific gestures from a wide geographic sample of Italian artists, suitable for both general visitors and art enthusiasts.
