Baia di Ieranto: the secret pearl between myth and silence

Autore: Redazione 01/08/2025 08:18

Baia di Ieranto is one of the most spectacular beauties of the Sorrentine Peninsula, a place carved in silence and beauty. The bay embraces the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area and is protected by the FAI. It is here that the sirens tried to enchant Odysseus with their song. There are no beaches: only rocks, an untouched landscape, and the sound of the waves.

The bay is well connected to Massa Lubrense and can be reached on foot from Nerano via a trail of about 40 minutes. If walking doesn’t scare you, the route is manageable, though not trivial. And it will certainly be worth it, as you will find a small stretch of dark sand, made of pebbles, with crystal-clear waters. Such a beautiful and secluded place is rare to find. The Sorrentine Peninsula is famous for its bustling tourism and luxury, but here none of that exists. Only nature and silence are part of the experience that awaits you.

Fun fact: in the early 20th century, the bay was connected to a cement kiln facility. Only a few remnants remain, now engulfed by vegetation.

By car from Sorrento, continue towards Massa Lubrense and then to Nerano. Parking is available at the entrance of the village. On foot, follow the trail mentioned above, or you can also reach it by public transport via the SITA bus from Sorrento to Nerano.
