Anima in Fabula: Mariella Carbone’s solo exhibition at Villa Nigra

"Anima in Fabula. Figures between dream and reality" stages a conversation between puppet theatre traditions and contemporary sculpture. The exhibition gathers over twenty-five years of Carbone's visual and theatrical research, transforming stage objects into independent sculptural identities.

What to expect

• Works made from papier-mâché, fabrics, wood, metal wires and found objects.
• Sketches and drawings documenting the creative process and the relationship with materials.
• Artworks addressing themes such as childhood, metamorphosis, solitude and the body.
• A delicate exploration of the feminine universe expressed through modelled forms.

The exhibition, presented in 2025 in Perugia, comes to Lake Orta with support from Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and the Otto per Mille of the Waldensian Church. It is promoted by DragoLago ETS within the "Letture Amene" festival of nature, illustrated books and the arts.

At the opening evening the full program of Letture Amene 2026 will be revealed; the festival will animate the villages of Miasino and Ameno on 23–24 May.
