Abruzzo Experience 2026 launches: six-cycle tourism stages in L'Aquila province

From May to October a series of six events will cross some of the most scenic locations in the province of L'Aquila to promote sport, sustainable tourism and the enhancement of natural and cultural assets. The initiative is led by the Centro Sportivo Italiano - Provincial Committee of L'Aquila in collaboration with ten local associations, offering routes suitable for mountain bikes and e-bikes.

Organisers aim to deliver panoramic and technically engaging itineraries while strengthening local capacity to host cycle tourists through training and professional development for operators.

• 17 May – “Meta Green Ride” (Meta – Civitella Roveto)
• 28 June – “Cicloturistica della Faggeta” (Camporotondo)
• 12 July – “At the foothills of Gran Sasso” (Paganica, L'Aquila) – stage valid as the National Cycle Excursionism Championship
• 2 August – “X Renga Bike Tour” (Capistrello)
• 6 September – “Cicloturistica dei 4 Castelli” (Tornimparte)
• 18 October – “Cicloturistica della Castagna” (Sante Marie)

The programme includes first- and second-level training courses for guides and cycling-tourism operators (mountain bike and e-bike) to develop qualified local figures and promote sustainable use of the routes.
