On 10 April 2026 the Municipality of Chieti officially handed over the premises to the Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the setup of the "Millenni a Colle Gallo" Documentation Center. The site is located in the basement of the Municipal Palace in Piazza San Giustino, with access from Via Chiarini (the former Grottino), following restoration works promoted by the administration.
The handover marks the start of the installation phase: the initiative brings together the Superintendency's archaeological and technical expertise with multimedia and gamification solutions by Fabio Viola and the TuoMuseo collective, aiming to present Chieti's millennia of history—from Italic phases to the modern city—through an engaging visitor experience.
According to the Superintendency, excavations in Piazza San Giustino did not reveal monumental structures in situ, but produced important scientific results. The exhibition strategy will therefore use digital and display techniques to contextualize finds and help visitors understand the site’s historical development. The project aims to reconnect the community with its archaeological and urban heritage.
