Lake Braies: the green pearl of the Dolomites

Lake Braies, nestled among the peaks of the Braies Dolomites, is often called the "Pearl of the Alpine Lakes" for its incredible colors. It is one of the most iconic and photographed places in South Tyrol (Alto Adige), where dense forests are reflected in the calm surface.

The lake's beauty is not only scenic, as stories and legends revolve around it, such as those of the underground kingdoms of the Fanes. This makes the lake even more fascinating. You can take rowboat trips, which allow you to experience the lake's romantic and silent atmosphere.

In winter, however, it transforms into a frozen landscape, with snow whitening the woods. It has also become famous thanks to films and series that have chosen this location as a setting, given its fairy-tale atmosphere.

Lake Braies is also the starting point of the Dolomites High Route No. 1 (Alta Via n.1), a hiking itinerary that leads through breathtaking landscapes for all trekking lovers, but also for a romantic trip or a wild excursion.

Lake Braies is what one looks for in a lake.
