Cultural weekend in Rome: theatre, music, exhibitions and the Urban Walk on the Appian Way
With spring in full bloom, Rome presents a packed programme for all ages: theatre takes centre stage alongside concerts, festivals and heritage walks.
- Festival Contemporaneo Futuro – 6th edition: running until 12 April at Teatro India and Teatro Torlonia, featuring dance, reinterpretations of the classics and projects for younger audiences.
- Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (Georg Friedrich Händel): staged at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma until 14 April, conducted by Gianluca Capuano and directed by Robert Carsen.
- Auditorium Parco della Musica: double bill on 10 April with Olivia Sellerio (Teatro Studio Borgna, 20:00) and Tiromancino (Sala Sinopoli, 21:00); on 11 April Casadilego performs at Teatro Studio Borgna.
- Orchestra and Santa Cecilia: concerts with Daniel Harding and the Orchestra ceciliana on 9–11 April (Sala Santa Cecilia), exploring Brahms and Elgar with related talks in the Spirito Classico series.
- Adrian Tranquilli solo show: It’s Happening Again at the Museo di Roma, Palazzo Braschi, from 11 April to 24 May 2026, presenting three new installations on the themes of hero and antihero.
- Cammino Urbano di Sant’Ignazio di Antiochia: fifth edition, Saturday 11 April from 09:00, starting at Via Squillace 3, following a stretch of the Appian Way with stops for historical and archaeological insights.
The weekend is an invitation to experience the city more slowly and deeply, with family-friendly shows, major musical productions and routes that connect art to place.
