From April 3 to July 5, 2026, Gallerie d'Italia in Naples presents Vortices, an exhibition that stages a visual conversation between nine recent paintings by Alexi Worth and selected ancient vases from the Caputi Collection.
Worth's works, made with airbrush techniques and a restrained palette dominated by black and terracotta hues, isolate gestures associated with the symposium: hands holding cups, moments of shared drinking, and intimate ritual actions. The paintings function as contemporary counterparts to the scenes and motifs depicted on classical kraters and amphorae.
The archaeological selection, arranged for this presentation, highlights objects from Greek and Magna Graecia production centers. Placing these originals beside Worth's canvases underscores the enduring visual power of ancient imagery and its ability to inspire contemporary artistic practice.
The installation alternates nine paintings with craters and amphorae, inviting visitors to compare technique, scale and iconography across millennia. The project explores the social and cultural dimensions of the symposium, asking what lies behind the simple act of drinking together.
