On 16 and 17 April 2026 the Auditorium of the Pompeii Archaeological Park will host the international conference G.R.E.E.N. – Gardens as Resources for the Enhancement of Environmental and Natural Heritage. The event highlights the importance of historic and archaeological gardens as tools for conservation, landscape interpretation and visitor engagement.
In recent years the view of vegetation within archaeological sites has shifted: from a perceived threat to artifacts to a strategic asset for site protection, landscape quality and enhanced visitor experience. G.R.E.E.N. aims to stimulate exchange of methods and best practices across archaeology, landscape architecture, botany and conservation.
Dates: 16–17 April 2026
Venue: Auditorium, Pompeii Archaeological Park
The conference is aimed at archaeologists, landscape architects, botanists, conservators, site managers and other professionals involved in the conservation and promotion of environmental and archaeological heritage.
