Visiting Frosolone: what to see in the village of knives

Autore: Redazione 02/08/2025 19:30

The village of Frosolone, located at over 850 meters above sea level, lies among the hills of the Molise Apennines and is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Famous for the production of knives and scissors, over the years it has also carved out a place for itself thanks to its cultural identity and mountain landscapes.

What to see in Frosolone

The small historic center of Frosolone is a true treasure chest of rural architecture.

Among the most interesting attractions are Piazza della Repubblica, a lively meeting place with shops, and the evocative Church of Santa Maria Assunta, in clear Baroque style.

In the convent of Santa Chiara, you can find the Museum of Cutting Tools, which impeccably tells the artisan tradition of the town with knives, scissors, and cutting instruments.

Also noteworthy is the convent of San Francesco, immersed in silence, offering moments of solitary reflection.

Nature and outdoor sports

Thanks to its location within the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, Frosolone is perfect for outdoor sports enthusiasts: the meadows of Colle dell’Orso, the limestone cliffs, and the trekking trails make it an ideal place for hikes, climbing, and picnics in nature.

Traditions, events and local flavors

Among the most important events of the year is the Knife Festival, held in August, which offers live demonstrations and forging workshops.

Festivals and markets take place almost every month of the year, where you can taste the typical Molise culinary tradition: from local cheeses to artisanal cured meats, all the way to traditional desserts.

What to see around Frosolone

Thanks to its strategic position, Frosolone is an excellent base for visiting other towns in Molise, such as the villages of Agnone, Pescopennataro, Carpinone, and Isernia.

Frosolone is the perfect place to rest, reconnect with the land, and walk in nature, discovering ancient traditions and the genuine Molise cuisine.
