Guided tour with LIS interpretation at the Rudiae Archaeological Park

On Saturday 9 May 2026 the Rudiae Archaeological Park, located a few kilometres from Lecce, will offer a guided tour designed to improve accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors through live LIS (Italian Sign Language) interpretation.

The route traces Rudiae's long history — from its Messapian origins to the Roman period — and includes virtual reconstructions that illustrate the site's development over time, including the Roman amphitheatre dating to the reign of Trajan and the 1st century AD.

  • Date & time: Saturday 9 May 2026, meeting at 17:30 (approximate duration: 1 hour).
  • Admission: free. Reservation required: call +39 349 590 7685.
  • Meeting point: park entrance on Via A. Mazzotta (Fondo Acchiatura area), opposite IISS Presta Columella.
  • Services & supports: professional LIS interpreter, virtual tour on tablets, informational panels with photos and reconstructions.
  • Practical tips: wear comfortable shoes; bring a hat and water. The park has an internal parking area.

The event is part of the project "Rudiae, the city of Ennius", linked to the SMART-IN initiative for enhancing Puglia's archaeological heritage. The visit combines archaeology, on-site education and accessibility to create an inclusive experience.

Reservation by phone is mandatory; please be punctual to ensure the tour starts on time.
