From May 22 to 24, 2026 the Campania region hosts the new edition of Vesuvio Gravel, a bikepacking and cycle-tourism event designed to highlight historic routes, minor towns and coastal and mountain landscapes.
The event is non-competitive and unsupported: riders follow GPS tracks and manage stops and overnight stays independently. The loop starts and finishes at Lake Averno in Pozzuoli, covering roughly 360 km with more than 4,000 meters of total ascent.
The suggested stages include stops in small towns and villages, with refreshment points and collaboration with local organizations. Planned highlights: Lake Falciano, Casamostra (Teano), Capua, Casertavecchia, Montesarchio, areas around Taburno Park and the Partenio massif, plus Vesuvius tracks and the Posillipo waterfront.
Registration covers GPX routes, event pack, official bag, pre-departure aperitif, final refreshment, logistical services and insurance coverage. Extras such as baggage transport, guarded parking and train+bike options are available.
Vesuvio Gravel is an opportunity to explore lesser-known villages and landscapes away from mass tourism, promoting slow mobility and direct engagement with local communities. It suits riders seeking an autonomous, immersive cycle-tourism experience that highlights historic centers and Campania’s natural scenery.
