Va' Sentiero Fest 2026: eleven days of walking in Pollino National Park

From 5 to 17 July 2026 the Va' Sentiero Fest returns, a dispersed festival combining participatory trekking, cultural events and local activities across the Pollino National Park. The program covers approximately 190 km, arranged into ten walking days over an eleven-day festival, involving 10 municipalities. It's designed for those who prefer slow travel and wish to explore mountain landscapes and traditions on foot.

The format alternates daily hiking stages with moments of cultural engagement: readings, storytelling, workshops and environmental activities. The festival aims to highlight the area's natural and cultural heritage while promoting sustainable, community-based tourism.

Practical information

  • Dates: 5–17 July 2026 (11 days total, 10 walking days).
  • Route: around 190 km divided into daily stages; involvement of 10 municipalities in the Park (Calabria and Basilicata).
  • Participation: registration is open; early booking is recommended.
  • Difficulty: varies by stage; participants should be in good physical condition and carry suitable gear.

Tips for participants

  • Clothing: well-broken-in hiking boots, layered clothing, lightweight waterproof jacket.
  • Backpack: bring enough capacity for water, snacks, first-aid kit, spare clothes and a map/GPS.
  • Planning: check daily stages, meeting points and any transfers; assess difficulty levels in advance.
  • Environmental care: stay on marked trails, do not leave waste, and respect wildlife and local communities.

How to get there and contacts

The Pollino Park can be reached from multiple access points in both Calabria and Basilicata. For exact route details, event schedule and registration procedures, consult the festival's official communication channels.
