UNESCO Common Heritage: teacher training and guided visits

The UNESCO Common Heritage project offers a free training path for primary and secondary school teachers in Lombardy. The initiative pairs a one-day training session in Milan with a series of free guided visits to the region's main UNESCO Sites, providing practical resources to bring cultural heritage into the classroom.

Core programme

  • 18 May 2026 – Introductory conference at Palazzo Lombardia, Milan: educational presentations, art history talks, sessions on science and technology applied to heritage, and participatory workshops (including a Lego Serious Play activity).

Schedule of free guided visits

  • 23 May 2026 – Castelseprio and Monastery of Torba (Longobard remains).
  • 24 May 2026 – Isolino Virginia (pile-dwelling site, prehistoric heritage).
  • 30 May 2026 – San Salvatore–Santa Giulia monumental complex, Brescia.
  • 31 May 2026 – Valle Camonica: rock engravings, Archaeological Park of the Cemmo Boulders, MUPRE of Capo di Ponte.
  • 6 June 2026 – The Last Supper and Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan.
  • 7 June 2026 – Avenue of the Chapels at the Sacro Monte of Varese.

Provided resources

Registered teachers will access teaching kits, podcasts, video interviews and courses developed with the UNESCO Chair at the Politecnico di Milano (Mantova campus). Resources include practical and digital proposals for classroom activities and field trips.

How to participate

Participation is free but requires registration through the Regione Lombardia portal. Educational sheets and logistical details are also available via the Museum Subscription service. Seats are limited: early booking is recommended.
