Palazzo dei Musei, Modena: 2026–2027 exhibition program

The Palazzo dei Musei in Modena has announced its 2026–2027 season, presenting two international exhibitions in the museum's new wing. The projects arise from national and international partnerships and include educational activities and related events.

Main exhibitions

• Robert Doisneau – Photographic retrospective

  Dates: 24 September 2026 – 24 January 2027. About 150 images from the Atelier Robert Doisneau in Montrouge will be on display, curated by Gabriel Bauret. The show provides a comprehensive overview of the French photographer’s work, featuring iconic photographs and archival materials.

• Hokusai and his time – Painting and prints (Edo period)

  Planned period: February – June 2027. Curated by Francesco Paolo Campione, Marco Fagioli and Moira Luraschi in collaboration with the Museo delle Culture in Lugano. The exhibition will explore the artistic and historical context of Edo-period Japanese prints and paintings and will be enriched by musical events featuring the Municipal Theatre Philharmonic under the direction of Hirodumi Yoshida.

• Funding and partners: the municipality renewed the partnership with Silvana Editoriale and allocated a public contribution of €130,000 to support the two exhibitions.
