Umbria launches €4 million Film Fund to attract productions

The Umbria Region has approved the Umbria Film Fund 2026-2027, a two-year call for film, TV series and audiovisual projects to be shot in the region. The initiative aims to make the audiovisual sector a stable driver of economic, cultural and tourism development.

  • Funding: €4 million in total, financed by the FESR 2021-2027 programme.
  • Allocation: €1.5 million for the 2026 session and €2.5 million for 2027, with the possibility of further increases.
  • Goals: generate jobs for technicians, craftsmen, hotels and services; promote Umbrian locations; increase competitiveness nationally and internationally.
  • Coordination: the Fondazione Umbria Film Commission will act as the central coordinating body for regional audiovisual policies.
  • Conditions: new calls will include sustainability and inclusivity criteria.

The measure builds on previous regional calls (2021, 2022 and 2024) that showed positive economic impacts. The strategy seeks to make on-location productions a long-term tool for cultural and tourism promotion of Umbria.
