Sustainable tourism: Sauris awarded Global Sustainable Tourism Council certification

Sauris is now officially recognised as a sustainable tourism destination following certification issued by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, an authority promoting sustainability and social responsibility in tourism endorsed by the World Tourism Organization. Sauris is the smallest certified destination in Italy and the second in Friuli Venezia Giulia, after Tarvisio.

  • International recognition: the certification confirms commitment to responsible practices and protection of the local environment and cultural heritage.
  • Local value: the Rete d’imprese Sauris‑Zahre aims to promote local businesses and products that convey the history and authenticity of the area.
  • Inauguration: the new headquarters of the Rete was inaugurated in Sauris di Sotto on the same day.

The recognition places Sauris among 21 certified destinations in Italy and supports its strategy to offer high‑quality, low‑impact tourism experiences that highlight cultural and environmental stewardship.
