Turning to the light: group exhibition at Villa Fiorentino, Sorrento

Dates: 15 May – 14 June 2026
Venue: Villa Fiorentino, Sorrento

The group exhibition "Turning to the light", curated by Rossella Savarese within the Sorrento Contemporary Art format, opens on 15 May. The show investigates light as a central element in contemporary practices through site‑specific works, installations and performative moments designed for the rooms of Villa Fiorentino.

Selected international artists bring together practices that explore mark‑making, spatial relationships with light and the artist's ability to map alternative visual paths. The installation reinterprets the historic spaces of the villa, integrating them into the artworks.

Events: the program includes live performances, talks and artist recognitions. Spanish artist Elvira Carrasco will present a performance on 15 May and on 16 May she will show the "Faces Project People" at SyArt Gallery.

The exhibition also supports charitable initiatives: proceeds raised during opening days will fund activities of the Rotary Club Sorrento, with support from the Fondazione Sorrento and SyArt Gallery.

The project is curated by Rossella Savarese (art historian and artistic director of the format) and is accompanied by a scientific committee made up of respected cultural professionals who guided the selection and critical framing of the event.
