Triennale Milano during Milan Design Week 2026

When: 20–26 April 2026. Triennale Milano is a central hub of the Design Week, presenting a mix of installations, retrospectives and the refreshed route of the Museo del Design Italiano.

Guest projects and main installations

The programme includes free-entry installations and ticketed projects across indoor spaces, the Sala Sottsass and the garden. Collaborating partners include Anonima Castelli, Eames Office, Fredericia, Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, HYLEtech and Kvadrat.

  • CASA ULTRAPIEGA (Anonima Castelli) – a garden installation revealing the production logic of the ULTRAPIEGA seat, with tensioned wires and aluminium modules creating a visible production 'workshop' for visitors.
  • The Eames Houses (Eames Office) – archival materials, films and scale models of Charles and Ray Eames houses, accompanied by the new Eames Pavilion System developed with Kettal: full-scale modular structures that can be experienced up close.

Retrospectives, collections and exhibition routes

Notable retrospectives include Edward Barber | Jay Osgerby. Alphabet, freely accessible and spanning three decades of the studio's work. The Museo del Design Italiano displays more than four hundred items from the permanent collection (ticketed; free for students under current museum policies). Exhibitions are also dedicated to Andrea Branzi, Lella and Massimo Vignelli and a free show on Don Bronstein.

Garden, Piano parco and services

The Giardino Giancarlo De Carlo offers a pause between visits and hosts the bar-restaurant Cucina Triennale. On the Piano parco, the exhibition Nello spazio di un secolo. Rai Pubblicità, 100 anni di storia e oltre traces a century of Italian visual communication with objects and archival materials.

Events, workshops and visitor tips

Side events include workshops and training sessions such as the HYLEtech Lab: Light in Matter. Architectural variations, where international architects reflect on atmosphere and sustainability. Kvadrat presents a show on Frans Dijkmeijer and Gebrüder Thonet Vienna pairs archive material with generative digital installations.
