The village of Trebisacce rises on a plateau, from which it takes its name of Greek etymology.
With its view over the sea, the village offers enchanting landscapes and charming glimpses.
Trebisacce experienced the phenomenon of depopulation due to emigration to America at the end of the 19th century.
What to see in Trebisacce
The village offers a spectacular view of the Gulf of Taranto and the peaks of the Pollino National Park. Its ancient history is testified by archaeological remains and local traditions. It is renowned for its seafaring and agricultural traditions, in particular for the Biondo Tardivo, a prized citrus fruit, and for olive oil.
Its seafront, one of the longest and oldest in Calabria, is known as the “living room of the Ionian town” and stretches for five kilometers. The Pier, 100 meters long, is illuminated in the evening and very popular. Among the monuments stand out the Mother Church of San Nicola di Mira (1040), the Bastion (16th century), and the wooden Crucifix (1400). Monte Mostarico, immersed in Mediterranean scrub, is ideal for excursions.
Thanks to its strategic position, Trebisacce allows easy visits to other Calabrian villages rich in history and culture. The Ludovico Noia Museum, dedicated to olive oil art and peasant civilization, enriches the cultural offer of the village.

The Notte Bianca, one of the most anticipated summer events, enlivens the village with concerts, food stands, and nightlife along the seafront until dawn. The Feast of San Giuseppe retains a bucolic charm, intertwining sacred and profane in a rustic and authentic atmosphere.
