Autore: Redazione 08/05/2026 23:39

Reopening of the former Fish Market in Porta Palazzo, Turin

The historic pavilion in Piazza della Repubblica, dating back to 1837 and closed since 2021, has reopened after internal refurbishment. The city plans to use the space for temporary cultural events, artistic activities and public gatherings.

  • Works carried out: cleaning of interiors, refurbishment of restrooms, replacement of some glass panels and upgrading of emergency exits.
  • Investment: approximately €138,000.
  • Historic features preserved: original market signs such as "Boutique del Mare", "La Pescheria" and "L'Angolo del Pesce", white and blue tiles, wall decorations and the restored illuminated sign of the historic "Laguna Blu" stall.

The project aims to create a cultural hub through temporary uses, integrating commerce and cultural programming to enhance the Porta Palazzo area.

Events: the reopening will be accompanied by activities across Piazza della Repubblica. Notably, the Porta Palazzo Festival is scheduled from 10 to 13 June, featuring talks, international communal tables and musical events. The pavilion will also participate in the Salone Off programme and events linked to Kappa FuturFestival, the Architecture Festival and Terra Madre, and is part of Turin’s bid activities for European Capital of Culture 2033.

Practical info: the venue will be available for temporary public events and cultural proposals; organizers should contact the municipal offices or the city’s temporary use coordination for bookings and project submissions.
