Spina e spade: Giuliano Giuggioli’s large-scale paintings at the Church of La Spina

Spina e spade is a solo exhibition by Giuliano Giuggioli, curated by Filippo Lotti, hosted in the Church of Santa Maria della Spina in Pisa. The show is open with free admission from 10 April to 3 May 2026 and features a visual path where painting, symbolism and historical references merge in large assembled canvases.

The works highlight Giuggioli’s symbolic language, reworking historical episodes and motifs into evocative, visionary narratives with strong connections to maritime identity and collective memory.

    • The Four Maritime Republics – 3 canvases
    • Pisa Lighthouse – 3 canvases (a poetic reinterpretation of the Leaning Tower)
  • Work at the Domus Mazziniana: The Battle of Curtatone and Montanara – mixed-technique on 3 canvases; the Domus is open Monday to Friday.
  • Admission: free
