Capitoline Superintendency: cultural programme from 1 to 7 May 2026

Rome begins May with a programme of exhibitions, guided visits, book events and local initiatives promoted by the Capitoline Superintendency for Cultural Heritage. Below are the main appointments and practical information.

  • 1 May: civic museums and archaeological areas closed for Labour Day.
  • 2 May: opening of the exhibition Ettore Scola. Non ci siamo mai lasciati at the Museo di Roma in Palazzo Braschi (on view until 13 September 2026).
  • 3 May: first Sunday of the month with free entry to civic museums and several archaeological sites, including the Area Sacra of Largo Argentina, the Circus Maximus area and the Imperial Fora (specific opening times and last admission vary by site).
  • 5 May: events at the Museo di Roma in Palazzo Braschi and the Museo Napoleonico, including a book presentation and a theatrical piece commemorating Napoleon's death.
  • 6 May: the "Books at the Museum" series at Museo di Roma features the presentation of the collective volume Musei e contesti.
  • 7 May: talks at the Civic Museum of Zoology on the malacological collection and a live painting workshop at the Capitoline Picture Gallery; guided readings and activities by young artists from the Academy of Fine Arts are also scheduled.
