From 16 to 31 May 2026, Galleria Viva stages a solo exhibition by Giancarlo M. Chiancone, known as Giano, set inside an atmospheric 18th-century palazzo at Via Santa Maria 24 in Soriano nel Cimino. The show presents an antological route comparing two key phases of the artist's work.
The exhibition contrasts works produced during Chiancone's time in the United States with those created after his return to Italy, between Salerno and Soriano. Pieces range from landscape to informal abstraction, distinguished by vivid palettes and immediate painterly gestures that prioritize chromatic impact.
Giancarlo M. Chiancone (Giano) worked for over forty years as a surgeon and now dedicates himself full time to painting. His practice focuses on the exploration of color, light and visual suggestions, rendered in canvases of strong chromatic and compositional tension.
This exhibition offers a clear view of the dialogue between personal experience and formal research in an artist who reinvented his practice after a long professional career outside the arts. Recommended for local audiences and visitors seeking fresh painting approaches in the Lazio area.
