Between 31 March and 6 September 2026 the Fondazione Accorsi‑Ometto in Turin stages a comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Giovanni Antonio Bazzi, known as Sodoma, focusing on his formative years and the artistic choices that shaped his Renaissance style.
The show offers a fresh critical perspective on Sodoma's early activity by assembling works that document stylistic experiments, regional influences and contacts with Tuscan and Roman circles. It represents one of the most extensive reappraisals of his youthful production since the mid‑20th century.
The exhibition is curated by Serena D'Italia, Luca Mana and Vittorio Natale, supported by a scientific committee of specialists engaged in reconstructing the artist's early chronology. A press preview is scheduled for 30 March at 11:00.
The display highlights Bazzi's Piedmontese roots, his interactions with Sienese and Roman environments, and iconographic elements revealed by recent restorations and comparative studies. Newly available works and archival evidence provide revised interpretative keys to his narrative originality and expressive modernity.
This exhibition is a significant opportunity to explore the early development of one of the more distinctive painters of the Italian Renaissance and to view restored works and rare loans from public and private collections.
