Siena: FMS Academy selects six young graduates for museum placements

The Fondazione Musei Senesi has started the FMS Academy, a programme designed for recent graduates under 30 that pairs classroom training with practical internships in the network's museums. The initiative aims to build operational skills in heritage management, audience engagement and cultural communication.

• Giulia Mozzini (Montepulciano, 1996) – art history and digital museology: allocated to the Pinacoteca Crociani (Montepulciano).
• Maddalena Postinger (Trento, 2001) – education and outreach: working at the Museo Civico Archeologico e della Collegiata (Casole d'Elsa).
• Veronica Quagliata (Messina, 1997) – art history and cultural tourism: assigned to the Civic Collections of the Municipality of Siena.
• Lorenzo Testi (Poggibonsi, 1998) – prehistoric archaeology and heritage communication: placed at the Museo Civico per la Preistoria del Monte Cetona (Cetona).

Training content

The initial stage includes about one month of lectures and workshops led by sector professionals. Key topics covered are:

• Accessibility and inclusion to broaden museum audiences;
• Heritage interpretation and teaching methods for guided tours and workshops;
• Digital communication and tools to promote collections online;
• Participatory planning, sustainability practices and visitor-focused technologies.

Duration, funding and participating museums

Internships start with a six-month period, renewable for an additional six months. The initiative is funded by the regional FSE+ Toscana 2021–2027 programme within the Giovanisì initiative and involves collaboration with local authorities and partners.
