Siena: six trainees chosen for the FMS Academy

Fondazione Musei Senesi (FMS) has appointed six under‑30 graduates to the FMS Academy, a training programme that combines classroom instruction with practical placements in museums across the network. The initiative aims to strengthen hands‑on skills in museum management, communication and audience engagement.

Participants and placements

• Letizia Gagliano (Asti, 2000) – communication designer: placed at FMS offices.
• Denise Latrofa (Bari, 2001) – visual arts management: assigned to the Museo del Paesaggio in Castelnuovo Berardenga.
• Giulia Mozzini (Montepulciano, 1996) – art history and digital museology: assigned to the Pinacoteca Crociani in Montepulciano.
• Maddalena Postinger (Trento, 2001) – art education and outreach: placed at the Civic Archaeological Museum and Collegiata in Casole d’Elsa.
• Veronica Quagliata (Messina, 1997) – art history and cultural tourism: engaged with the Museums and Civic Collections of the Municipality of Siena.
• Lorenzo Testi (Poggibonsi, 1998) – prehistoric archaeology and heritage communication: traineeship at the Civic Museum for the Prehistory of Monte Cetona in Cetona.

Training focus

An initial month of multidisciplinary training, delivered through lectures and workshops by sector professionals, precedes practical placements. Key subjects include:

• Accessibility and audience inclusion
• Heritage interpretation and museum education
• Digital communication and promotion tools for collections
• Participatory design, sustainability and visitor technologies

Duration and funding

The traineeships begin with an initial six‑month period, potentially extendable by another six months. The project is financed by the FSE+ Tuscany 2021–2027 Regional Programme within the Giovanisì initiative, with participation from municipalities and local partners.
