Field inspections within the Sepino archaeological park in Molise have revealed a domus attributed to the Roman imperial period. This finding is significant for understanding the local Roman settlement pattern and the wider archaeological landscape.
Preliminary work by the archaeological team has identified wall remains and features consistent with a high-status residential building. Precise dating will depend on stratigraphic study and laboratory analyses, but the structural layout aligns with known imperial-period domus examples.
The discovery enriches knowledge of the Roman presence in the area and may lead to new interpretive routes and displays. Access to the immediate excavation area could be temporarily restricted to allow safe research and conservation.
Summary: the identification of an imperial-era domus at Sepino is an important step for the study of Roman settlement in Molise. Scientific investigations and conservation efforts will continue to clarify the chronology, function and state of preservation of the discovery.
