Scicli's sea honoured: Blue Flag for the third consecutive year

Scicli has received the Blue Flag for the third year running. The awarded beaches are Sampieri, Punta Pisciotto and Costa di Carro, recognised for water quality, services and sustainable coastal management.

The announcement of the Blue Flags 2026 took place in Rome at the CNR headquarters during the official ceremony organised by the Foundation for Environmental Education. Mayor Mario Marino, Councillor Enzo Giannone and municipal technical staff attended the event.

Why it matters

The Blue Flag evaluates more than scenic appeal: criteria include bathing water quality, waste sorting, safety, beach accessibility, services for bathers and environmental education. Nationally, the 2026 awards cover 257 municipalities and 525 beaches.

The municipal administration views the Blue Flag as a starting point and is already working to extend the recognition to other shores in the Scicli area, with projects aimed at enhancing and sustainably managing the waterfront.
