Vistamare gallery in Milan presents Tangible Kinships, Rosa Barba's second solo exhibition in the city's spaces, on view from 18 April to 20 June 2026. The project examines cinema as a physical and perceptual system that encompasses light, projection, sound, performance and spatial relationships.
The exhibition centers on the film Charge (2025), shot on 35mm with optical sound and premiered at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Newly shown in Italy, the film acts as a generative core from which a series of sculptural works unfold, made with glass, porous transparent materials, film stock and kinetic mechanisms.
The works are designed to actively engage with light and visitor movement, extending the projected image beyond the screen and into the gallery space. The installation functions as a dynamic system where reflections, shadows and environmental changes produce shifting configurations, inviting an attentive and participatory form of viewing.
The exhibition is an opportunity to experience how cinema can be rethought as a spatial and sensory practice: projected images become catalysts for relations with the exhibition context, prompting reflections on technology, landscape and temporality.
