Fano 2030: Vitruvius at the centre of the tourism strategy

The Municipality of Fano has launched the multi-year Fano 2030 Tourism Strategic Plan, awarding a contract worth €30,000 to a specialist firm. The plan is designed to turn the recent discovery of the Basilica of Vitruvius into a key asset for archaeological tourism.

Effective from the current year, the strategy focuses on integrating the new archaeological site into the city's cultural offer and enhancing existing products and services through modern communication tools. The initiative foresees active collaboration between municipal offices, cultural operators, the local tourism system and associations to build a coherent and appealing narrative for visitors and researchers.

Planned actions

• Initial assessment: mapping the starting scenario and current perception of the city;
• Positioning: measuring the potential impact of the Basilica of Vitruvius on Fano's tourism brand;
• Guidelines: identifying strategic priorities and project lines eligible for funding;
• Territorial marketing: digital communication campaigns and tools to broaden visitor reach;
• Stakeholder engagement: creating experiential packages with cultural operators and local associations;

Expected outcomes
