Nuragic Sardinia: exhibition in Cagliari on the landscapes of the Nuragic civilization

From 16 to 29 April 2026 the atrium of the Rectorate at the University of Cagliari hosts Nuragic Sardinia. Landscapes of a Civilization, an exhibition presenting research and initiatives that promote the island's archaeological heritage and support the Nuragic candidature on UNESCO's tentative list.

  • Location: Atrium of the Rectorate, University of Cagliari, Via Università 40
  • Dates: 16/04/2026 – 29/04/2026
  • Opening hours: Monday–Friday 7:30–19:30
  • Admission: free

The exhibition summarizes the outcomes of a two‑year project (2024–2025) on Nuragic monumentality, coordinated by the Regional Planning Center with scientific contributions from several universities and research centers. It features informational panels, site maps and interpretative materials highlighting the landscape, historical and cultural significance of Sardinia's Nuragic complexes.

Main aims of the initiative:

  • to present research findings and territorial analyses on Nuragic sites;
  • to raise awareness about the UNESCO tentative list candidacy, which includes 32 island sites;
  • to disseminate accessible, up‑to‑date educational resources to the public.

The inauguration and the exhibition program include interventions by institutional and academic representatives, as well as contributions from researchers involved in the project.

Visitor tips: attend during the posted hours; admission is free but check for possible closures on public holidays. The display is suitable for archaeology enthusiasts and cultural professionals interested in historic landscape protection.

Why attend: the exhibition provides a concise, updated overview of the Nuragic heritage's role in Sardinia's identity and the ongoing efforts to secure international recognition through UNESCO.
