Renzogallo — Beyond the Ashes

Beyond the Ashes, curated by Aldo Iori, showcases a site-specific project by Renzogallo created for the spaces of the Mattatoio. The exhibition unfolds as a conceptual and sensory journey that centers the visitor, inviting direct engagement with installations that reconfigure the exhibition space into passages of relations and meanings.

Key features of the exhibition:

• Red iron installation: a sequence of iron elements arranged as a single organism, forming a unitary, monumental structure adapted to the venue;
• Wood and paper works: installations made with newspaper paper painted in red and wooden constructions addressing the idea of threshold and crossing;
• Mixed media: canvases and mixed-technique works on paper in dialogue with the environmental installations, stressing materiality and scale;
• Visitor's role: the works are completed by the presence of the viewer, who activates physical, sensory and emotional interactions with the structures.

The exhibition articulates the artist's intention to move beyond ready-made narratives and to challenge dominant representations, particularly those shaped by mass media, seeking new semantic horizons where only ruins seem to remain. The use of red operates as an evocative and symbolic device—an expression of intensity, vital warmth and visual force that takes form within the space.
